1 〔急に倒れたり, 突き当たったりするさま〕

●ばったり(と)倒れる fall flat [plump] 《on the ground》; flop 《to the ground》; collapse; drop down 《dead》.

2 〔不意に出会うさま〕 suddenly; unexpectedly.

●ばったり(と)出会う meet by chance; run [bump] into sb; come face to face with sb; run up against sb.

3 〔急に途絶えるさま〕 suddenly; abruptly; unexpectedly.

●ばったり(と)止まる[止む] stop dead; come to a dead stop; come to a standstill.

●注文がばったり(と)来なくなった. Orders suddenly stopped coming.

・夜半過ぎになると人通りがばったり(と)なくなる. The streets are completely deserted after midnight.

・9 月になると客足がばったり(と)途絶えた. When September came, people suddenly stopped coming [there were suddenly no customers].
